Senator Duff at Filling in the Blanks

NORWALK, CT THURSDAY JUNE 11TH (3pm-6pm) FITB will be holding a contactless food drive at their warehouse parking lot, 346 Main Ave, Norwalk CT 06851.

This event is a follow up to the popular FITB Virtual Food Drive that’s been going on since March. Local food donors can drive their cars right up to the FITB loading dock and volunteers will remove donations from driver’s trunks.

“Since the onset of COVID-19 we have distributed over 100,000 meals to children in Norwalk, Stamford, Greenwich, New Canaan CT and Bedford Hills NY. The food drive will supplement the items we are no longer able to purchase in bulk because of the high demand of food due to the pandemic. says Tina Kramer – Co-Founder/Co-President Filling in the Blanks

Shawnee Knight – Co-President/Co-Founder Filling in the Blanks says that “Our ‘No Contact’ Food Drive is the first event of its kind to happen at our warehouse this year. After converting every fundraiser, we had this year to online, it’s nice to have a live event where everyone remains socially distant. Of course, all of our volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves for everyone’s safety. Volunteer shifts are rotated every hour to help keep risk to a minimum.”

“Now more than ever we must come together as a community, to support our neighbors. There is no greater gift of support, or can provide more comfort, than food. I am proud to continue my partnership with FITB who have remained on the hunger frontlines since the beginning of COVID-19. This food drive will provide essential food to those most vulnerable during this pandemic” added Senator Bob Duff.

The children Filling in the Blanks serves is in need of; Mac and Cheese, Tuna, 1lb bag/box of Spaghetti, Canned Soup, Boxed Dry Chicken Noodle Soup, Granola Bars (no nuts), Fruit Cups (individual size), Apple Sauce (individual size), Instant Oatmeal (individual packets), Canned Corn, Canned Beans, Rice (15 oz or less).

Filling in the Blanks is a non-profit organization that fights childhood hunger by providing children in need with meals on the weekends.
